  1. Welcome to FTL!
  2.  
  3. This is the README file for the demonstration program for FTL 2.1, the
  4. powerful new hypertext, hypermedia components from CIUPKC Software. The
  5. demo is actually a set of DHT (Delphi Hyper Text) files for FTL which
  6. explain the workings of the component system and also demonstrate its
  7. power at the same time!
  8.  
  9. HOW TO USE THE DEMO
  10.  
  11. Unzip the distribution file into a single directory. If you obtained the
  12. version without an AVI file, copy the Delphi.avi file from the Delphi CD
  13. or disks into the directory if you wish to test the AVI display capabilities
  14. of FTL. If you got the AVI file version, you may skip this step.
  15.  
  16. From the program manager (or explorer in Win 95) invoke FtlDemo. It will
  17. bring up a splash screen, and you will be in the first demo file.
  18.  
  19. If the file comes up as just text (no graphics or links) resize the
  20. display window so it is large enough not to have breaks in the hypertext and
  21. reload DEMO1.DHT from the File|Open menu item and you will return to the
  22. normal demo pathway.
  23.  
  24. Follow the links in the demo file whenever the cursor turns into a pointing
  25. hand (like Windows help!) Moving around inside the demo structure will give
  26. you a fair idea of the capabilities of FTL.
  27.  
  28. Then start changing the several dozen menu options and observe how this
  29. changes the behavior and appearance of the demo files! This is the real
  30. power behind FTL, because everything you see in the demo was created in
  31. the Delphi IDE using the VCL components and their OnEvent method handlers!
  32.  
  33. (If you encounter unexpected or anomalous behavior from the demo, please
  34. don't worrry; this is a system in early release and a few bugs are still
  35. being chased. If you wish to order the product, or not, don't hesitate to
  36. send mail to the address below with bug reports! (If you find a bad enough
  37. one, you might get a free copy by way of thanks!)
